The Sussex County Sheriff's Office D.A.R.E. Program offers Drug Abuse Resistance Education to the youth of Sussex County in conjunction with area school districts.

This car was seized by a drug forfeiture in Sussex County

Project D.A.R.E. is a joint effort of the Sussex County Sheriff's Office and the various Sussex County Public School Systems to prevent drug abuse in children.  Traditional drug abuse programs dwell on the harmful effects of drugs.  The program emphasis of Project D.A.R.E. is to help students recognize and resist the many subtle pressures that influence them to experiment with drugs and other chemicals.  In addition, program strategies are planned to focus on feelings relating to self-esteem, interpersonal communication skills, decision making and positive alternatives to drug abuse behavior.
